OVERVIEW

In an interactive and practical session participants will understand their responsibilities within the current legislative context to keep children safe online. The program gives an overview of the findings of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.  Participants will look at online risk factors at the child, perpetrator, organisational and situational levels, and explore strategies to remove risks.

CONTENT
  • An overview of the findings of the Royal Commission, and the child safe standards
  • Exploration of online child harm indicators and impacts
  • A brief overview of the key legislative context
  • A risk management process
  • Communicate and consult to identify, analyse, and remove risks associated with child harm

  • Understand cyberbullying, sexting, and pornography, and their impacts on children and young people
  • Understand responsibilities within the current legislative context
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how organisational culture and patterns of inappropriate behaviour can impact on a child’s ability to disclose online child sexual abuse or other forms of harm
  • Apply a risk management process to identify, analyse, monitor and treat online risks
